Interstate Talks About Online Poker Initiated, Says Nevada Governor
It seems Nevada's online poker drive is energetically pushed forward by the state governor Brian Sandoval who is already discussing cooperation with like-minded fellow governors. So far it is not known which states' governors are in question, but Sandoval specified that “I've talked with a few governors and I'm introducing the concept of compacting,” adding that the whole thing is “very much in the early stages and we have a great opportunity because we have the infrastructure and other states have the players. I'm hopeful we'll continue to talk.” According to the governor, legislative and administrative regulations will have to be set and adopted in other states before any compacts are made on player access. At present, only New Jersey and Delaware have specific online gambling legislation in place, but they are expected to be followed by California, Massachusetts, Texas, Pennsylvania and Illinois soon enough. Regarding the progress made in Nevada, Sandoval said he was pleased, opining that “We're already ahead of other markets. People are signing up from all over the world. Other companies are in the queue.”
