Speculations About What's Behind New iPoker KYC Demands
Newly introduced Playtech iPoker network player-to-player transfer bans and a demand for operators to conduct immediate KYC (Know Your Customer) checks on their players, has triggered speculations that affiliate PokerVIP may allegedly be referring US players to the distinctly US-unfriendly iPoker network sites. The speculations are intensified by the fact that the alleged owner of PokerVIP, Jamie Nevin, has previously been accused of running a service which gave determined US punters access to US-unfriendly sites via Virtual Private Network and payment arrangements. Although the Playtech network repeatedly stresses its intention to work through properly regulated national jurisdictions, and has ambitions in the evolving American online gambling sector, there is still a potential danger of accessing its iPoker facilities from illegal locations. Therefore, the company has warned that if the current KYC initiative unearths any such accounts, it will take strong remedial action including an immediate blocking.
