First WSOP Event Goes to Famous Poker Journalist
The first event of this year's World Series of Poker - the $500 buy-in employees event - has already made it into the record books! The event honors and title went to poker journalist Chad Holloway, who bested a formidable entry field of 899 other players, and faced a final table which comprised Allan Kwong, Bobby Rooney, Brian Pingel, Daniel Ellery, Sean Small, Tyrone Smith, Michael Trivett and Hieu Le. In the heads-up Holloway clashed with Kwong, who was unable to respond to Holloway's aggressive style, so he left the competition with a runner-up prize of $52,318. For his trouble, Holloway claimed the $84,915 main prize and his first WSOP winner's bracelet.
