Withdrawal of Ongame Poker Network from Spanish Internet Gambling Market
The subsidiary of Amaya Gaming, Ongame poker network has expressed its intention to withdraw from the Spanish legal online gambling market hardly a year following the licensing procedure. It was a June last year when the supporters of the Spanish liberalisation were advertising the new market as having great potential, boasting 5.7 percent of the total gambling market in Spain - at the time described as the third largest offline market in Europe - compared to the European average of 11.2 percent. According to the industry connoisseurs, Ongame's decision to close its dedicated Spanish network ensued after the loss of its largest local client Paf earlier this year. Following the launch in Spain on Ongame in June 2012, Paf decided to close the operations and withdraw in February this year. The closure affected also Ongame skins including Goalgaming and associated sites like goalwin, pokermambo and pokerloco.
