Day 7 was the decision day in the $10,000 buy-in World Series of Poker main event which saw the final table form from an original field of 6,352. The chip lead at the start of the day belonged to German ace Anton Morgenstern who was followed by other famous names such as Spanish pro and previous (2001) main event champ Carlos Mortenson and a finalist from last year's main event Steve Gee, but neither of them made it to the final table. What's more, the final table was set when Mortenson was eliminated by JC Tran, who enters the final table action as chip leader on 30 million chips. The average chip stack is on 21,173,333, and the next man to fall (ninth position) will collect $733,224 for his time and trouble. Apart from JC Tran who hails from the US, the other eight survivors include Michiel Brummelhuis from Holland; Sylvain Loosli from France; Amir Lehavot from Israel; Marc McLaughlin is from Canada, as well as JC Tran's fellow countrymen Mark Newhouse, Ryan Riess, David Benefield and Jay Farber.
