New Poker Movie Could Result in Federal Gambling Legislature
The American Gaming Association may decide to use the new online poker movie Runner Runner to convince the US Government that federal regulation is necessary. Runner Runner, starring Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, is scheduled for release in September. AGA chief executive Geoff Freemen supports the concept of using the movie to enlighten Congressional representatives that federal regulation is a must due to its presentation of s dodgier side of online gambling. A bill for online gambling and on for online poker have been submitted to Congress already this year. Las Vegas journalist, Jon Ralston says he had seen an AGA email and in the email, Freeman allegedly says: “….illegal online poker and unscrupulous offshore operators, dramatically underscoring the risk American consumers face in a poorly-regulated market.”
