No Online Gambling Legislation in California this Year?
It's not looking good for California Senator Lou Correa's SB 678 online proposal after a tweet from Poker Players Alliance on Wednesday. The bill was presented in March and was just recently given an "urgent" status. The PPA tweet advised: "Update CA: sources confirm that amended Correa bill will not be brought up b4 end of session. Work on iPoker to continue over Fall recess." Correa's bills calls for online poker in Cali to be led by existing tribal gambling and land based card rooms. In order for the bill to make it, it would need a two-thirds majority in both the state Senate and the House. All hope is not lost for the year just yet. There are other possibilities in the works. California lawmakers break from September 13 2013 to January 5, 2014.
