Silverman Wins WPT Alpha8 Tournament
Poker pro Steven Silverman pocketed another win of $891,660 during the inaugural $100,000 buy-in World Poker Tour Alpha8 tournament. The win comes just three months after he won the PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Finale for a €775,400 payday. With such a high buy-in, there were only 18 players that registered for the Alpha8 event and Daniel Alaei, Daniel Perper and Isaac Haxton re-entered for a grand total of 21 with a $2,026,500 prize pool. As of day two, Matt Glanz led the final table comprised of Jason Mercier, Isaac Haxton, Bill Perkins, Daniel Alaei, Joseph Cheong, Jeff Gross, JC Tran and Silverman. Silverman took on JC Tran in a heads up that resulted in Silverman taking the top spot and Tran coming in second with a $526,890 win. Jeff Gross came in third with a $364,770 win and Matt Glantz came in fourth taking $243,180.
