The French gambling company, Barriere Group announced on Friday that it will be closing it online poker operation at the end of September due to a poor economic situation and a decrease in the French poker market.
The following notice was posted on the company's website:
“After 3 years of operation in the French poker market, BarrierePoker.fr announces the end of its commercial operations.”
The most recent quarterly report from French regulator ARJEL confirmed that poker revenue has dropped for the sixth time in a row.
This closure has no bearing on Barriere's plans to enter the US where it has already established a partnership with Caesars Interactive.
