California Tribal Business Alliance Opposed to PokerStars
The California Tribal Business Alliance is displeased with the announcement that PokerStars has been working toward a partnership with Morongo Band of Mission Indians and three large Southern California card clubs in an attempt to launch online poker in California. The chair of the trade association and treasurer of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, Leslie Lohse, said that this partnership comes at a critical time especially with two bills proposing intrastate legalization and regulatory regimes. Due to the previous conduct of PokerStars in the US has Lohse claiming that the CTBA "...will strongly oppose any legislation which allows PokerStars to participate." The CTBA was created in 2004 and includes three member including the Pala Band of LuiseƱo Indians, the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians and Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians. According to the CTBA website, it seeks future partnerships and coalitions with similar governments and various organizations.
