Not Enough Time to Vote on California Online Poker Bill
Sen. Lou Correa pulled his online poker bill due to a lack of time to work out the details involving cardrooms and tribal interests postponing the issue of legalized online poker in California for the fifth year. According to the LA Times, Correa said that there was not enough time to implement changes with the legislative season ending August 31st. “Internet poker is an important public policy. We need to make sure it's done right,” Correa said. With the fast approaching deadline, it is unlikely that "in the wings" other legislative initiatives, including the tribes, will get anywhere this year. This could prove difficult for Amaya Gaming's recently acquired PokerStars, which is in a Californian alliance with the Morongo Tribe and three cardrooms.
