Ultimate Gaming Exits New Jersey Market
The first online poker operator to be licensed in Nevada, Ultimate Gaming, will be withdrawing from the New Jersey market. Ultimate Gaming partnered with Trump Taj Mahal Casino and claims that the casino, owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts, has not paid them in for two months owing $1.5 million. “We wish things would have turned out differently for us,” said Marc Falcone, the company's senior vice president. “Unfortunately, as they say in poker, we were not dealt a good hand.” “Money that the site generated and that we are owed, we were never given. It made it extremely difficult to operate under those circumstances.” As a result of the cancellation of the arrangement, Ultimate Gaming is not accepting additional deposits for a speedy wrap up. "We are grateful to the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for allowing us to be one of the first companies to bring online gaming to the citizens of New Jersey and appreciate their leadership as one of the first states to allow online gaming," said Chairman of Ultimate Gaming, Tom Breitling. "We are working closely with the Division of Gaming Enforcement to ensure a smooth transition for our online gaming customers as we wind down our New Jersey operations." Ultimate Poker is not opposed to reentering the New Jersey market should it find a land based partner in the future but for now the company will turn its attention to its Nevada operations.
