The United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Season 4 final began five days ago with 1,089 entrants but only one could win and that man was British IT worker and amateur poker player Brett Angell.
Angell has been a fixture at UKIPT tournaments for a few years but this was his year to take home the first prize of GBP 115,083.
Angell faced Swiss player Fabrizio Fuchs in the heads up and although Angell was the chip leader, he agreed to a two-way chop.
Fuchs took second place and GBP 98,717.
Additional final table payouts:
Sandro Mescola Italy GBP 56,500
Mark James UK GBP 42,500
Nickolas Davies USA GBP 32,500
Vladimir Troyanovskiy Russia GBP 23,800
Caicai Huang UK GBP 17,800
Rasmus Agerskov Denmark GBP 12,800
"I still work in IT and I'm going to carry on working in IT. I really enjoy playing but poker's too unpredictable. I've had the mickey taken out of me by my mates for the past two and a half years [about his runner-up finish at UKIPT2 Nottingham] so it's a good feeling to win one. It was great having all my pals from the Teeside area cheering me on, they were fantastic”, said Angell.
