It is with a heavy heart that we bring you the news of the passing of British pro gambler and poker player, Dave Ulliott, who lost his battle with cancer on Monday.
Ulliott, 61, had two nicknames during his career, the first of which was “Dave-The Clock” early on and later became known as Dave “DevilFish” Ulliott.
Playing poker with his parents as a youngster certainly paid off as he went on to win a WPT bracelet in 1997.
He was also the winner of the World Poker Tour first season Jack Binion World Poker Open in January 2003 defeating the likes of Phil Ivey to bank $589,175.
Devilfish took over $5 million during his poker tournament career, which lasted more than 20 years.
Ulliott became a high profile player in the UK after being on the British television series “Late Night Poker” in 1999.
Victoria Coren, described his book “DEVILFISH: The Life & Times of a Poker Legend”, published in September 2010 as “The book is, like the man, fast, funny, scary, smart, cocky, colourful, and I adore them both.”
The news of Ulliott's passing was announced on his official Twitter account. He has seven children to keep his memory alive.

I am very saddened to see this today as this be the first I heard of the "DevilFish" passing . Dave was 1 of the few players I would watch on a televised poker event. I enjoyed his somewhat relaxed approach to the game and his candor was refreshing if and when a situation arose and another player warranted some words from the Dave. One program Dave was featured in had DevilFish Dave telling the people watching at home , if you fancy yourself a poker player , while in a game you have difficulty locating the fish at the table , then odds are it is YOU ! My condolences to his family on his passing and to his (I would bet countless ) fans that will continue to enjoy memories of Mr. Ulliot's wit & style of play , as well as a class all his own that shined every time he stepped to the felt . His example is one that some of the players (prima donnas ) involved in poker could take a lesson or 2 from . Rest in peace sir , you are gone but your legacy on the game will NEVER be forgotten

I'm very sorry to hear that, DevilFish was an inspiration for many young players in the poker world. Great player with some really huge wins in his career who was a very tough opponent at the table. I didn't know about the healthy issues that he suffers from. Very sorry, Rest in Peace.
