New York Online Poker Hearing Scheduled
The chairman of the New York state Senate Racing, Gaming, and Wagering Committee, Sen. John Bonacic will schedule an online poker hearing in September, which will review opinions on issue, and will include major state operators among other interested parties. The hearing will likely explore the issue as Senator Bonacic plans to hear more regarding online gambling during the 2016 legislative season. The Senator presented an online poker legalization bill, S 5302, in 2014 and brought it back in 2015 after it ran out of time. New York's population is greater than that of New Jersey and could present more opportunity for the industry. With that said, online poker alone will not deliver the sort of revenues that the legalization of all types of gambling would bring but that will not happen for some time.
