American and European media are covering the story of an online poker malware scam targeted at PokerStars and Full Tilt.
Eset, a San Diego security company, discovered the scam and its effects on players with accounts at one or both sites.
The spyware, Win32/Spy.Odlanor, gives hackers the ability to see your cards and cheat players with infected computers.
The Silicon Republic reported that the malware appears to be an installer from programs like Daemon Tools or mTorrent and in some cases, it was discovered that the malware is installed via poker related programs like Tournament Shark, Poker Calculator Pro, Smart Buddy, Poker Office, and several others.
'We have observed several versions of the malware in the wild, the earliest ones from March 2015,' said Robert Lipovsky, Senior Malware Researcher at Eset. "According to Eset LiveGrid telemetry, the largest number of detections comes from Eastern European countries - several of the victims were located in the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary."
Concerns are increasing as personal data is at risk with the latest versions of the malware that now include data stealing functionality. These us a version of NirSoft WebBrowserPassView, embedded in the Oldanor trojan. The company revealed that the tool (Win32/PSWTool.WebBrowserPassView.B) is legit “albeit potentially unsafe application, capable of extracting passwords from various web browsers”.

Wow that is scary. I suppose it affects high rollers more than average players with relatively low balances in their accounts. I hope that the antivirus programs out there have added this one so that it can't be so profitable for the scammers who try to spread it and invade people's computers. I hope that the antivirus programs out there have added this one so that it can't be so profitable for the scammers who try to spread it and invade people's computers. Pokerstars should try to directly address this problem for the benefit of its players around the world.

Sad news for the world of poker. I saw something about it, it seems this malwere can make a screenshot, and therefore your opponent can see your cards, this is very dishonest. What is even worse is that you can be infected through related poker software and if you do not have a very good anti virus, the risk of getting...
