Two-Time WPT Winner Announced
Avid poker players may remember this year's World Poker Tour Winter Poker Open winner. Poker pro, Aaron Mermelstein took the title at the event, which was held at the Borgata. Just in case you didn't remember his name, he has made sure to make headlines once again, having taken on a second WPT title in the same year. Mermelstein walked away with a whopping $250,222 at the WPT Maryland Live! event, which required a $3,500 buy-in. As a result, he has earned himself a seat, later this year, at the WPT Championship, where the player may very well prevail yet again. The two-time winner was up against a total of 337 competitors this time around, including past WSOP winner, Greg Merson, who finished in fourth place. He also played against another big name, Anthony Zinno, who placed 30th. In the final stretch, the last two players consisted of Mermelstein with a 3 to 1 chip advantage, and Tom Wang. After a short 20 hands, the event came to a close, and Wang was handed a runner-up check for $164,765. Additional final tables cashes were: Andjelko Andrejevic $105,981 Greg Merson $78,449 Cate Hall $58,589 Ken Holmes $47,091
