Scottish poker pro Niall 'Firaldo87' Farrell of Glasgow secured his first major live tournament title having won the Euro 5,300 European Poker Tour Malta main event for Euro 534,330 following a heads up round against 26-year-old Alen Bilic of Bosnia. A total of 651 hopefuls entered the event creating a Euro 3,157,350 prize pool. Well-known participants included Johnny Lodden, Sam Greenwood, Luca Pagano, Kitty Kuo, Faraz Jaka, Mike 'Timex' McDonald, Matthias De Meulder, Isaac Haxton and Rainer Kempe. Farrell took his seat at the final table with an advantage; however he and Bilic entered the heads up round on fairly even ground. The pair agreed to a chop, which Farrell with Euro 444,300, Bilic with Euro 444,000 and Euro 90,000 remaining on the table for the winner. The guys played 77 hands but a busted flush draw for Bilic ended the event, which was streaming live in 12 languages on PokerStars.tv, Twitch and YouTube.
