The 8th season of the Latin American Poker Tour Grand Final, hosted in Sao Paulo, Brazil, saw 426 participants take part “theNERDguy” take first place.

Brazilian player Yuri “theNERDguy” Martins took on Afonso Henrique in the heads up, which led to a two-way chop.

Martins eventually eliminated Henrique sending him off in second place with $138,806 and leaving the first prize of $169,652 for himself.

Before winning the LAPT Grand Final, Martins biggest win came when he placed second in the 2011 Brazilian Series of Poker Main Event in São Paulo for $110K.

This year's season, which began on November 25th through December 3rd, will pause for the remainder of this month before picking back up in season 9, the 2016 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in Nassau. The previous LAPT Bahamas $3,000 main event drew 736 participants creating high hopes for 2016, which offers a $2,200 unlimited re-buy format. The event will kick off on January 7, 2016 and run through January 9th.
