PokerStars SCOOP Series Starts May 8th – Record Number of Events and Prize Pools
Spring represents a change. Out with the cold, and in with the warm. That is unless you are having one of those unseasonably cold and wet springs like where I live. Seriously, enough already! Spring also represents one of the biggest times of the year for poker tournaments. Americas Cardroom just had their biggest success with a $1million guarantee that exceeded the guarantee for the first time ever. The WSOP begins in just a few short weeks as well. For poker players, spring doesn't officially begin until the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) at PokerStars. A spin off the popular WCOOP, the SCOOP series has become just as popular. We are only a day away from one of the largest online tournament series that runs from May 8th, until May 22nd. Just in time to hop on the plane and head to Vegas for the WSOP. This year will be the biggest SCOOP in history according to representatives at PokerStars. With more events than ever – 55, and more guaranteed prize money, players are stoked to hit the tables. Events cover a wide range of buy ins, and games to suit all players. PokerStars always does a good job of allowing everyone to take part in the excitement. Unlike the WSOP that has a low buy in of $555, anyone with a few bucks in their accounts can play a SCOOP event. Play begins on Sunday at 8 AM EST with an $11 NL Hold Em tournament with a $100K guarantee. This is one of the many low buy in tournaments running throughout the series. Most tournaments are broken into 3 levels - a low, medium, and high. The first high event is also on Sunday with a $1,050 buy in and a $750K guarantee. The series will end with a championship event in each buy in level. A low championship with a $100 buy in and an astounding $1 million guarantee begins on May 22nd. A $1,000 buy in for the medium level with see a $2 million guarantee. And finally a $10,000 buy in high limit championship will close out SCOOP with a $ million guarantee. Players can also compete in the SCOOP leaderboards for each buy in level. At the low level, 300 tickets will be handed to players making the leaderboards to various WCOOP events. The overall leader in the low level will also win a trophy, a buy in to the 2016 WCOOP Championship, and $5,000. Medium level leaderboards will have the same prizes, but only 125 players will earn tickets. The high level will have 25 tickets. An overall leaderboard is also set up to award the best player in the series an extra $20,000.
