Super High Roller Bowl Will Air on CBS
Big news in the poker world was announced by… CBS? The U.S. based entertainment network is traditionally known for its outstanding programs on television. But they also run a massive sports network that rivals ESPN. They have yet to be known for poker shows, and are more popular for their NFL and other sports programming. That will all change this year! Earlier this week, CBS announced it will air the 2016 Super High Roller Bowl. The tournament will take place at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Play starts on May 29th and will conclude on June 1st. CBS will show 30 hours of the event live. The only other network to do this is ESPN when they show the final table of the WSOP live with a 30-minute delay. CBS will be the first to televise an entire live tournament. Hopefully a trend that will continue. Poker Central, the head sponsors of this event also announced that anyone can win $1 million by picking the final table. You will have to pick the correct each player finishes in to win the top prize though. Knowing this will be near impossible, Poker Central will give $10,000 to the person who comes the closest if no one wins the $1 million. About the Super High Roller Bowl A $300,000 buy in poker tournament, with a $15 million prize pool. The field is limited to 49 players and all who will be playing have paid their buy ins and will be in attendance. Most of the field will be the best of the best, with a few wealthy businessmen mixed in here and there. Players like Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Erik Seidel, Phil Laak and plenty more will be in attendance. Is a who's who of poker in one place. Bill Perkins, the notorious “Prop bettor” will also be on hand. Possibly to make some more outrageous prop bets. First place will win $5 million, with 7 spots paying out. The event came to fruition in 2015 and had a larger buy in of $500,000. The player field was slightly smaller with 43 players, but considered a success. Brian Rast would be the first winner of this event taking home $7.5 million. The event will also be streaming live on Poker Centrals live app available on Amazon Fire, Xbox and in the Apple App store.
