Week 7 GPL Updates

Week 7 GPL Updates
Heading into week 7 of the Global Poker League, The Americas conference was closely contested. With the Montreal Nationals just four points back, first place was up for grabs. We've already seen some separation in the Eurasia Conference, but just as in the other conference, anything could happen. The first matches were played by the Eurasia conference. The Paris Aviators needed a strong showing to move up from middle of the pack, and they got just that from Alexandre Luneau. He would place 1st in the starting 6 man sit n go. And followed that up with a 3rd in the second. He earned 10 much needed points for the Aviators. Especially since David Kitai failed to capitalize on the rush of points by losing all 3of his heads up matches. Dong Guo would gain the same 10 points by getting 5 points each for both of his 2nd place finishes. Once again, Todd Brunson was the big loser in the GBL by finishing last and 5th, earning just a single point for his basement dwelling Rome Emperors. Chris Moorman would help his London Royal stay in contention by winning his second match of the day. He finished 5th in the first match, for a total of 8 points. Next up is the Americas Conference 6 max sit n gos. The Las Vegas Moneymakers got some desperate help by Scott Ball when won the first of two matches gaining 7 points. He would place 5th in the 2nd for just 8-point total. Mike Mc Donald was the big winner by placing 2nd, and 1st in his two matches. His 12 points were the most of any player. It also helped to move a new team into first place. Pascal LeFrancois would add 3 more points by winning one of his three heads up matches for a total 15 points for Montreal. Would be that be enough to push the Nationals in to first place in the Americas Conference. The second place New York Rounders only earned 8 points. And since they were only 4 points ahead of the Nationals, simple math means the Nationals moved ahead the Rounders. As of week 7, the Montreal Nationals lead the New York Rounders by 6 points. The next closest team are the L.A. Sunset with 79 points and 8 points behind. In the Eurasia conference, the Moscow Wolverines lead the London Royals by 8 points with 87 total points. Paris is behind by 9 and Hong Kong is behind by 13. Berlin and Rome are basically out of it being 20 points behind the pack.
