2016 WSOP Day 5 Updates

2016 WSOP Day 5 Updates
Day 5 of the 2016 WSOP is almost in the books. We started with 6.737 players, and are down to just over 100 players. Tomorrow, we will have our November 9 decided and will have to wait a few months before we find out who wins. On a side note, I'm still up in the air if I like this November Nine. The WSOP can be kind, and can be so cruel. We saw many of our top 10 chip leaders from day 4 exit on day 5. It only takes one hand to go from hero to zero, and out of the tournament. Day 3 chip leader, Kenny Hallaert is still in the field, but has moved down to 23rd place. Still in good shape with over 4 million chips. Brandon Adams was in the top 5 yesterday and is not out in 119th place. The last woman standing was Melanie Weisner who was as high as 5th place on day 3. On day 4 she fared well only sliding down a few spots to 11th place. Day 5 wasn't so kind and saw her hit the rails in 126th place. Former WSOP champ Greg Raymer was still in the field on day 5 and was making another deep run. His luck would run out late in day 5 and he busted out in 123rd. Raymer always has a good showing in the main event. Not many big names are left in the field with the Hellmuth, Negreanu, Ivey's and others out already. Dan Coleman is our leader with 110 players left in the field. Coleman has 1 WSOP bracelet. Tom Marchese, Paul Volpe, Cliff Josephy and Tony Gregg are arguably the biggest names left in the field. Another former champ who was poised to regain his title was Johnny Chan. At the end of day 4, he was one of the big stories as he was heading up the leaderboard. By the middle of day 5 however, he saw himself on the rail along with the other 6 thousand players who busted out ahead of him. The hand of the day has to go to Mitchell Watson. Watson shoved his last 670,000 chips in the middle pre flop and was snap called by Jared Bleznik who had him more than covered with over 7 million chips. Watson turned over 77, while Jared showed pocket Aces. The board came 8-7-7 to give Watson quad 7's. An excited Watson yelled “Fuck Yeah” and of course received a 10-minute penalty for using profanity. I'm sure many in that situation would have done the same, so we won't get him on too much. Day 6 will be a wild one with players jockeying for position and trying to stay alive. With all 9 players who make the final table becoming instant millionaires, nerves will be high. And not to mention all the endorsement deals to be had. Well update you at the end of tomorrow.
