However, his spectacular APAT success won a following of 29 fans on Facebook. The fan club, however, now seems to be inactive, most probably because Daniel Phillips no longer focuses on playing poker. In short, after his brief success at APAT, the budding poker pro seems to have disappeared from the poker scenario.

The most significant event in Daniel Phillip’s life appears to be the English Amateur Poker Championship, which he won in September 2006. This exciting poker event was the first ever live event of the Amateur Poker Association and Tour, which was held at Broadway Casino in Birmingham on September 23 – 24.
The APAT live poker event was described as “oversubscribed”; and around 120 players fought for the title. Twenty of these players claimed to be playing live poker for the first time in their lives. Each player began with a starting stack of 10,000 chips. The event was sponsored by the prominent poker site, PokerStars.
One the second day of the event, Daniel Phillips was one of the ten players who reached the final tables. A tough fight ensued at the end of which only Mark Donnelly and Daniel Phillips were left playing for the title. Of the two, Phillips emerged as the champion and the winner of all the prizes that PokerStars had stacked up for the APAT champion.
Daniel Phillips labeled the cash prize he received as “significant.” The rest of PokerStars prize package included a free seat to the EPT Copenhagen live poker event in Jan 2007, along with travel and accommodation expenses. In addition, the champion also received an engraved trophy and a gold medal conferred by the Amateur Poker Association and Tour. Armed with this awesome PokerStars prize package to EPT Copenhagen 2007, Phillips went off to participate in this prestigious poker event.
His performance at the EPT Copenhagen was quite exceptional till he was eliminated by aggressive player Simon Mycock. Bloggers on the event, however, report that Daniel “kinboshi” Phillips appeared to have enjoyed his first ever EPT experience.
