Erica Schoenberg

Erica Schoenberg is one of the younger poker stars and she has managed to make quite a name for herself. It is true that she gets a lot of attention due to her good looks but to say that this is her way to stardom would be a lie. Erica is also a sharp blackjack player and it is clear that she has a very logic and sharp way of thinking. Coming into the big poker events she is joining players that were her friends even before she sat down at the professional tables with them.

Background

Erica Schoenberg was born in Ohio in 1978. Her parents met at the Santa Anita race track which could have been a hint for what kind of child they would get. As she grew up it became obvious that Erica had a talent for games that require logical thinking. She enjoyed playing rummy both with her parents and grandparents. She also won a county math championship in 1991 which further prove that she had the features of a skillful card player. Erica says that she didn’t realize that she had this kind of talent till she met some members of the MIT blackjack team.

Blackjack Victories

It was the fateful meeting between Erica and the MIT blackjack team members that would push her into her current career. Erica learned how to play blackjack and more importantly how to count cards. She ended up in 2nd place in the Game Show Network’s World Series of Blackjack. It was obvious that her training with the team had given great results and Erica was already enjoying good money from it. At this point she was still working as a model, personal trainer and professional volleyball player but this would soon change.

Moving on to Poker

After playing a game of poker with some friends, including Phil Hellmuth, Erica started to look into poker. This new interest would prove to be a lucrative one. She focused on Texas Holdem and she placed 16th in the World Poker Tour in 2006. In 2007 she placed 3rd in the World Series of Poker $1,500 no limit holdem. The same year she won the $2,500 no limit holdem of the Mandalay Bay Poker Championship. In the World Poker Tour she also took part of the Season 4 Ladies Night Event. Her total winnings from poker and blackjack games exceed $700,000.

Player Style

Erica Schoenberg is called the Poker Babe and her blond hair will have many fooled that she doesn’t know what she is doing. Stereotypes about blondes and pretty women are really to her service because while the opponents stare at her face this smart cookie plays a steady and aggressive game. She is known to take over the chips in a surprising manner. Erica has signed with Full Tilt Poker and she can be found playing live poker events as well as blackjack games. It is said that she devotes most of her time to the gaming but she also has a fiancée to the chagrin of many of her admirers.
