Huck Seed

Huck Seed is part of Full Tilt Poker’s professional team and he has been a poker star for over a decade. It is hard to imagine what could have been had he stayed in College but chances are that we would have seen him in the poker elite anyways. With his humble playing style he almost blends in with the table but opponents should be careful if they end up facing him. Huck Seed has been winning serious events ever since he started his poker career and it looks like he will continue his successful gaming for many years to come.

The College Drop Out

Huck, who is really Huckleberry, Seed was born in Santa Clara, California in 1969. He grew up in Corvallis, Montana and many believed he would make it big in basketball. He played for the Montana All-State basket team in 1987. He went to study electrical engineering at the California Institute of Technology and he also played for their basketball team. He was even recorded in the documentary Quantum Hoops from 2006. In 1989 he left college to get serious about his poker. He would never return which must have been one of the best decisions of his life!

Poker Career

Huck Seed won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 1994 through a Pot Limit Omaha tournament. Winning the main event this year brought him the handsome prize sum of $1,000,000! He came back to show his skills in 1999 but this time things went less smooth. He got eliminated in 6th place by Noel Furlong who would go on to win the final. After these appearances in big events it would take a long time before his name was mentioned again. In 2007 he finished 73 in the Main Event. Out of 6,358 players this was quite impressive. In 2009 he won the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship and a prize sum of $500,000. In total, Seed is said to have made more than $5,000,000 from various poker victories.

WSOP Star

One could very well call Huck Seed a World Series of Poker Star. He took home the main event in 1996 and he has 4 WSOP bracelets. The first bracelet was won in 1994 through the Pot Limit Omaha tournament. The second was won in 1996 when he won the main event and the million. The third bracelet was won in 2000 when he played Razz and the fourth came in 2003.

Player Style

Huck Seed was naturally a good basketball player thanks to his height and his tall appearance makes many opponents feel intimidated. Seed is not known for being loud and physically threatening. He is more of the laid back kind and he openly states that he uses silence as his weapon. He believes that the game should do the talking. Many other poker stars enjoy his company and he is good friends with players like Phil Hellmuth. The two are said to have made a bet of how long Seed could stay afloat in the ocean. Seed says they never carried out the bet for real but the two keep on meeting each other at final tables in many big events.
