A Super Tournament

A Super Tournament

Every tournament promoter thinks his tournament is the best. It doesn't matter if it's poker, blackjack or slots, the person who operates the tourney believes it is number one.

There's an old saying, 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,' so I suppose the public should take these claims with a grain of salt. I just came across a poker tournament I never heard of before which the promoters claim is the 'best tournament of the year.'

It's the 9th annual Jon Hall Chevrolet and Halifax Howard Frank Memorial Deep Stack Charity Tournament at Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club in Daytona Beach, FL.

Now I know Daytona Beach. It's great country with a lot of entertainment for residents as well as tourists. The city offers everything from incredible deep sea fishing to gambling and has incredible sea food restaurants. The sunsets are spectacular and there are few things more fun than watching the sun go down while sipping a cool drink from the deck of a ship or a beach restaurant.

The tournament is scheduled to begin Sunday, May 21 at 1 p.m. Since it is a charity tournament, the suggested buy-in is $250. Promoters guarantee $70,0000 to the winners, with first place paying $11,000.

Wait, there's more.

All the players who make the final table will be qualified to take a guest to Las Vegas and spend four nights in a luxurious suite at the Venetian Resort. Free limo transportation, free food and beverages, and a wide selection of gourmet restaurants are part of the package.

The first person in the tournament who gets a royal flush will be awarded a Rolex Watch.

A number of poker notables, including Mike Sexton and Linda Johnson, former publisher of Card Player Magazine, are involved in the tournament.

Another perk is a chance to win a $100,000 John Hall Chevrolet package -- a $69,000 luxury Corvette and a trunk full of cash.
