A nice result at Poker Time
« on: February 26, 2010, 06:34:45 AM »
Hey folks,

I signed up to the depositors freeroll at Poker Time.  While I was waiting for it to start I had a quick game (with the biggest fish there are available in poker) and lost.

Had about 20 mins to go and 9 on my account and spotted casino.  Had a little play and got it up to 40 and thought I would cash out.  Min cashout is 50  :o

The game started and it was all blind stealing for no show-ers at the beginning.  Got my chips up to about 2k and had a nice pocket pair of 10s so I raised and had one caller.  Flop is nothing much 39J - so I bet big and this guy goes all in. I called - he showed a pair of 3s and hit a 3 on the river. Pah!  I still had about 750 left and managed to get it back up to about 2.5k.

A few hands down the line I was BB and the fish that hit trip 3s raised me.  I had 10 K so I called him and the flop is 9J4.  He bet big, I called (I was officially a fish!)  Turn is a Q - glory be.  I just went all in and he called and showed KA.  I knocked him out and as he left the table I said (with great relish I must add) - "That's for the 3s."

Anyway - game goes on and I have about 10k and its break time.

I decided to see if I could get my 40 up to 50.  Now this being a microgaming platform, they have all the lovely microgaming slots like Mad Hatters, Loaded etc.  I decided to have a go on Deck the Halls with 10.  A few goes in I got the free spins and saw the screen almost full of wilds.  Bearing in mind I have a 30p bet (min bet this is), I made 76 in one spin.  I played for a bit longer and tried my luck on another slot for 10 but that was no good.  I cashed out 80 and kept 20 on the account.  A great result.....and what about the poker I hear you ask?

I continued with the game and was hanging in there.  Top 40 paid and there were about 400 starters with about 51 left.  Blinds were 300/600 and I was BB.  Dealt QdKd and as usual my BB was raised with an all in bet.  So I thought may as well call.  Called and the guy had AK - now bearing in mind that my BB had been raised for the last 6 or 7 rounds I was getting mighty fed up.  Sometimes you have to just say - enough is enough and go for it.  So I did.  Needless to say, neither of us hit and he won with this Ace high and I was out in 50th place.  Not a great result but the winnings from the slots definitely made up for it.

nice!

lately i have had the feeling that i have better odds gambling slots, then i have playing poker :P
the "normal strategy" doesnt seem to work anymore, and peoplle nowadays seem to call, or go all in with every possible hand, meaning aa, ak, kk, qq, kq and all those other nice hands get cracked a lot by far worse hands.
where  as  a few years back i think people where more reluctant to call with rags...
maybe its because of these kind of vid's, have  a laugh:

Well with more than 233,000 views - I imagine quite a few.  End result is of course as you say, a load of noob fish.  I did see a news item which stated that a particular poker site "wanted more fish" to increase their profits.

This is how I see it:

Noob fish > fish win > good players lose > good players deposit > fish think they are good > fish up the stakes > fish lose > fish deposit.....and so it goes on.

What do you think Dirk?

Wnanhee - sweet as ever.  It was only a brief "overview" of the game; more about the slots wins and yes, it was very nice.

Thanks Nanhee - luv ya too.  :-*

i totally agree, its all about the rake!
and this way idd, there is  a lot more traffic...

we should, instead of play poker ourselves, also found  a new pokersite:)

lets see if everybody here at LCB invests 200$, i reckon we'd have  about 4,5 million dollar.
which would be more then  enough to start one:)

with affiliate programs, a few promotional partners, etc., we'd be on our way!

we would certainly make more money then with our mutual gambling habits...

i saw that video ... it's the worst i've ever seen , that guy must be broke right now. By the way, i could have good news for him... recently Full Tilt reduced the minimmum deposit ammount from 30$ to 10$  :))

Oooh that is good news Mike.  That will certainly attract more players...and more fish.  I'll see if I can find that news item re. attracting fish.
