Top Comedian Joins Poker Celebrity Team

Seinfeld star a competent player PokerStars has signed up poker playing actor Jason Alexander - perhaps best known for his comedy appearances in the long-running television hit show "Seinfeld" - to play as one of its celebrity team members, reports CardPlayer.com. As a member of the team Alexander will promote the PokerStars brand in online and live poker events, including the 2009 World Series of Poker and PokerStars global poker tour circuits. "PokerStars has very graciously asked me to sign on as one of their official players," Alexander said this week. "I am very flattered and happy to be playing for a real quality site and with the kind of professionals that remind me every day how truly mediocre I am at this game. But I'm learning. And now I can learn from some of the best." Alexander joins a PokerStars team of "international celebrity ambassadors" that includes NHL player Mats Sundin, former tennis pro Boris Becker, and former Cy Young Award winner Orel Hershiser. The modest actor has some experience in big events; he has played in the 2008 NBC Heads-Up Championsip and was a mainstay on the old poker show Celebrity Poker Showdown.
