Pokerstars Sets Another New Record

Over 300 000 pokerheads in action simultaneously The world's biggest online poker site, PokerStars.com has done it again; with 307 016 players simultaneously playing on 42 814 virtual tables on September 6, the site set a new record, at the same time showcasing the continuing international popularity and demand for the online game. The new benchmark for poker popularity has been recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as overtaking PokerStars' own previous record by over 100 000 players. PokerStars additionally holds the world record for the largest ever poker tournament - online or offline - which it set in July this year when it simultaneously hosted 65 000 players in a single tournament, testament to the robust nature and large capacity of its software. In a statement this week PokerStars revealed that its global membership has soared to over 27 million players, and that it has dealt a staggering 33+ billion hands of poker since it launched in 2001.
