Gambling Makes A Massive Contribution To European Sports

RGA commissioned study says Euro 3.4 billion benefits sport The Remote Gambling Association held its agm in London recently, and took the opportunity to unveil the latest study on the very significant contribution of the gambling sector to European Union sport. The study, commissioned by the RGA with independent consultancy Europe Economics, claims Euro 3.4 billion in gambling revenue flows annually to EU sport. Private sector gambling operators contribute 62 percent of this amount, the trade association pointed out. “If nothing else, it must serve to counter any claims that sports do not benefit from the link with gambling or that the amounts they receive are inconsequential,” noted Clive Hawkswood, RGA 's chief executive. Hawkswood added that the association has also commissioned a broader study into funding and integrity issues associated with sports betting, an area that has excited considerable political and media comment this year.
