16 percent increase in entry field With Days 1a and 1b completed at the 2010 Pokerstars Euopean Poker Tour competition in London this week, the organisers have claimed a new British record with 848 entries for the event, a 16 percent increase over last year. 339 players packed the venue on Day 1a, and a further 509 took their seats for Day 1b. The field included almost every big name on the international poker circuit, among them Joe Hachem, JP Kelly, Annette Obrestad, Jeffrey Lisandro, Jude Ainsworth. Noah Boeken, Chad Brown, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree, Sandra Naujoks, Aussie cricket celeb Shane Warne and French rap star Bruno "Kool Shen" Lopes. The record entry field generated a total prize pool of GBP 4,112,800, which means that 128 survivors will cash a minimum of GBP 7,500 and the winner will pick up GBP 900 000. By the end of the Day 1b action the 453-strong casualty list included Kathy Liebert, Johnny Lodden, Viktor Blom, Nicolas Levi, Praz Bansi, Toby Lewis, Melanie Weisner, Dennis Phillips and Shane Warne. When play ended Claudio Cecchi held the chip lead on 237,500, pursued by David Vamplew on 205,200, but it's early days and still in contention are the likes of Phil Ivey, Men Nguyen, Devilfish Ulliott, Ross Boatman, Fabrice Soulier, Chris Bjorin, Theo Jorgensen, Tony Cascarino, Kenny Hicks and Max Steinberg. The 395 survivors resume play Friday.
