Aussie amateur wins A$2 million after confronting a number of reputable pros This weekend was rather exciting for the Australian poker fans, as the big Aussie Millions tournament saw its grand finale at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. It was also a very successful ending for a local amateur player David Gorr (68) who not only managed to survive into the final table, but also beat a field full of international professionals and take the winners bracelet along with the A$2 million main prize. Gorr achieved this major success as a regular entrant in the tournament, and in the final table he faced James Keys, Jeff Rossiter, Michael Ryan, Randy Dorfman (chip leader), Samad Razavi, and internet expert players Chris Moorman and Patrik Antonius. Gorr is employed in the IT business, and he's been playing as an amateur since his teenage years. Regarding his grand victory, he commented: "It's quite unbelievable. I didn't think that it would happen. I knew I had a chance, but this is just terrific." This prestigious tournament has seen an Australian winner for the third year in a row. This year, it also had an impressive player pool - 721 players, which generated a prize pool of A$7,210,000. In the exciting heads up Gorr met and defeated Brit pro James Keys, who left the tournament with the second prize of $A1,035,000.
