Rebroadcast Old Television Programs on Gambling

Feb 11, 2011
"60 Minutes" series aired by CNBC CNBC rebroadcast three old 'Sixty Minutes' television programs under the title 'Gambling Aces' earlier this week supposedly because of the sudden interest in legalization of online gambling at federal and state level in the United States. One of the three re-aired parts of the '60 Minutes' series dated from 2005, and other two from 2008. The remarkable Steve Wynn, who left the indelible print on the gambling industry by building the impressive venues like the Encore, Golden Nugget (in its day), the Mirage and the Bellagio in Las Vegas was subject of one of the 2008 parts. The other 2008 part commented on the rapid growth of online gambling industry in face of the political opposition in the United States. However, it was the 2005 part which focused on the cheating issues of network sites UltimateBet.com and Absolute Poker.com that attracted most attention. The Cereus online poker network, now under new ownership and far ahead of the unfortunate history could not have been pleased to see the scandals dug up again, but operators must be aware that past is not easily forgotten.
