Controversial Player Gets Admitted to WPT

May 18, 2011
Tekintamgac disqualified from PPT, but allowed at WPT? A lot of stir has been caused by a German player Ali Tekintamgac's presence at the WPT Championship at Bellagio, mostly due to his previous disqualification from the Partouche Poker Tour (PPT) Main Event under cheating accusations from tour organizers. According to the accusations, he used media personnel at the tournament to signal his opponents' hole cards during play. However, he reportedly filed a counter-suit against the PPT, asking for Euro 1.3 million (the main prize of the tournament) and additional Euro 200 000 as compensation for the damage caused to his reputation. Tekintamgas was admitted at the WPT in Bellagio because he took down the WPT Spanish Championship in Barcelona. However, fellow poker pro's are now protesting because of his admittance to the tournament due to his shady past.
