Update: Star-Studded WSOP Main Event Kicks off

“Shuffle Up and Deal" call given by Doyle Brunson The 2011 World Series of Poker $10,000 buy-in NLHE main event kicked off on July 7 when a poker legend with ten WSOP bracelets, Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson gave the traditional "Shuffle Up and Deal" call to the first of four entry field days. Brunson himself decided to join the play "at least one more time" and try his best to outplay the star-studded field. Speaking of which, a whole range of big names appeared on the first day's flight, which saw almost 900 entries, including Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Lex Veldhuis, Maria Ho, Vanessa Selbst, Sammy Farha, Eli Elezra, Johnny Chan, Jerry Yang, and celebrity player, actor Jason Alexander. The schedule is the following: players are to play five 120-minute levels on four Day Ones. Then, the survivors will return for a few Day Twos, and only after that will the remainder of the field join together in one field, on July 14. By the end of Day 1a, the field reduced to 585 at level 5, with Fred Berger in the lead on 207,000, followed by Shane Sigsbee on 192,000. As for the other two remaining events, they are actively drawing to a closure. In terms of Event 56: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em, 42 players were back at the tables on the third day, with Gavin Smith in the chip lead. By the end of the day, the final table reduced to six players with Hasan Anter (5,475,000) and Andy Philachack (4,500,000) holding a big chip lead ahead of their rivals. As for Day 3 of event 57: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Split, it welcomed back 25 players, with Nick Schulman leading. Late in the evening, the play was down to three players at level 26 - Nick Binger (2,495,000), David Bach (2,000,000) and Bryce Yockey (820,000).
