EPT San Remo Goes to Pateychuk
A hefty prize for young Russian pro The competition at the latest Pokerstars Europeam Poker Tour leg in San Remo has been absolutely formidable, with a star-studded field of 837 entrants who fought for the lion's share of the hefty EUR800,000 main prize. But the one to take it was a young Russian pro, 22-year-old Andrey Pateychuk who outplayed a number of much more experienced players at the final table, which comprised: Dimitar Danchev, Daniel Neilson (chip leader), Barny Boatman, Jan Bendik, Yorane Kerignard, Rocco Palumbo and Kevin MacPhee. However, it was a reduced prize that he received since he and his heads-up opponent Dimitar Danchev decided to get an equal chop of Euro 600 000 each, with the winner to take the trophy and the remaining Euro 80 000. During the heads-up, Pateychuk faced fierce opposition from the Bulgarian pro, whom he managed to defeat in the end and claimed EUR680 000, his biggest career win.
