Microgaming Goes Through with Poker Network Makeover
Network Management Board meets for the first time A report came this week that the Microgaming Poker Network Management Board (NMB) met for the first time on Nov. 3 and 4, and that the discussion and voting at the meeting led to a full formation of the NMB's functions and responsibilities, an agreement of the development, as well as introduction of changes to the network marketing rules. The body includes representatives from Microgaming and the primary operators on the MPN, it is presided over by an independent chairman, and industry experts consult to the board on ecology, player perspectives and the long-term revenue potential of projects. According to a Microgaming spokesman, the NMB is just one part of a much larger project which aims at transforming the Microgaming Poker Network into “an entity which is entirely composed of operators who contribute to the success of one another and to the network as a whole.” He also added: "This project has been running for two years, and other components include optimisation of the network marketing rules, strict enforcement of those rules, education of operators on network ecology, removal of operators that do not subscribe to the vision of the project, the introduction of a formula that allocates greater value to recreational players and the development of new features for beginner and recreational players." In addition, a comment arrived from Lydia Melton, head of Network Games at Microgaming, who said: "There is a renewed sense of optimism among the Microgaming Poker Network operators, especially those on the NMB. Whilst we view the formation of the NMB as the natural next step for the industry, it is clear that we are the only network willing and able to take that step, and we are all excited to be a part of such an important and essential stage in the evolution of online poker.”
