Update: US to Hold Second Congressional Internet Poker Hearing
More evidence about to be heard Since the chairperson of the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade, Rep. Mary Bono Mack, called for more information at the last hearing on the implications of online poker legalization, another hearing will be held at Capitol Hill this week with an aim to fulfill her request. This hearing will be titled "Internet Gaming: Regulating in an Online World," and it will strive to look into the impact of legalized online gambling on US consumers and other stakeholders. This hearing may turn things the other way round for a pending bill to legalize online poker, introduced by Texas Rep. Joe Barton, as the last time Bono Mack stopped short of voicing support for the bill, explaining that she hoped to hear official views from various states on the implications of federal legalization. A witness list is apparently still in preparation.
