What’s New at Ultimate Bet? Another Privacy Scandal, Perhaps?
Data leak allegations stir the public Reports arrived towards the end of the week about another potential privacy scandal at Ultimate Bet, claiming that unknown person(s) have published online a significant amount of data from the company which suffered a lot in the Black Friday actions. According to the allegations, some 3.5 million UB accounts are affected, whereas they include no mention of UB's sister site Absolute Poker. It has been specified that the leaked data includes: •Full name •Screen name •E-mail address •Phone number •Mailing address •Account balance •IP address •Deposit methods used (e.g. “echeck”) •Birth date •UB account number •VIP status •Affiliate status •Blacklist status What's extremely worrying is that certain confirmations of the data arrived from several sources which verified it through comparison with their own personal data. Another concerning thing are the numbers involved – according to one report, “The data is organized by country, with roughly 2 million US accounts, 319,000 Canadian accounts, 137,000 UK accounts, and roughly 1 million accounts from other countries. The data contains over a dozen columns in addition to those listed above, many of which we've been unable to identify." On a more positive note, it seems like no financial information other than deposit methods and account balances has been affected. So far, no comment has arrived from Ultimate Bet regarding the brewing scandal.
