A Great Weekend for Mercier
Famous poker pro scores a big high roller win This weekend was a truly fantastic one for famous poker pro Jason Mercier, who this time managed to bring his career earnings in live tourneys to over $8 million. He did so by winning the $100k World Poker Tour High Roller tourney at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, where he beat 23 other top quality players, such as Erik Seidel, Ben Lamb, Brian Rast, Sam Stein and Sorel Mizzi, to the main prize of $683,767. In the intense final table, he faced a number of quality players, including Tom Marchese, Matt Waxman, Nick Schulman, Justin Bonomo, Daniel Negreanu, Justin “BoostedJ” Smith in addition to Isaac Haxton and David Sands. When the action came down to last three, Mercier, Sands and Haxton, the three players opted for a three way chop with the chip stacks respectively at 3.36 million, 3.68 million and 2.96 million; which further on left $105 000 on the table for first place and $45 000 for second. This way, the chop brought Sands a second-placing paycheck for $619 000, and Haxton $582 000 for third placing. In the heads up, it was up to Mercier and Sands to prove their qualities, and in this race Mercier proved to be better, winning not only the prize but also a $25 000 seat in the WPT Championship in May. Finally, the cashout list was the following: Jason Mercier – $683,767 + $25,500 WPT Championship seat David Sands – $619,000 Isaac Haxton – $582,000 Justin Smith – $289,440 Roger Sippl – $192,960
