Former WSOP Champ Agrees to Represent Betfair
Eastgate joins the Betfair pro team A 2008 WSOP Champion, famous for winning the prestigious competition when he was only 21, Peter Eastgate hit the headlines again, after quite some time, in the news that he has signed with the Betfair Poker pro team. Prior to this, he withdrew from poker as a PokerStars pro back in 2010, mostly for personal reasons, and the stress of being a poker celebrity in the media spotlight. This he repeated in his statement regarding his new engagement, along with the conclusion that he loves “the game and its competitive element,” but needs to balance that against his personal life and priorities. Explaining his decision to join the Betfair team, Eastgate said: "Having had time to think about my life and future I feel I have figured out how I can combine playing poker with a healthy life outside of poker. I do not consider this a comeback, as I always knew there was a good chance I would play poker again.”
