ANOTHER BLUNDERING BELLAGIO BANDIT
Echoes of the motor cycle raider eighteen months ago as almost comical duo try to snatch casino chips It's certainly no surprise that the World Poker Tour Championship attracts the attention of poker lovers and gamblers all over the world but it also attracts the likes of thieves. According to a Las Vegas police report, there was an attempt to steal poker chips at the event held at the Bellagio last weekend. This was reminiscent of the motor cycle bandit of eighteen months ago who not only made a similar attempt but also tried to sell the stolen chips online. This time it involves a 24-year-old man named Michael Belton and his friend 'Carlos'. They came prepared with pepper sprays and disguises comprised of black wigs and sunglasses and went into the casino late attempting to steal $115,000-worth of chips from a high stakes table. Carlos got out of the casino but Belton was apprehended by casino security and has three felony counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary hanging over him. Police are still searching for Carlos with the assistance of security camera footage from the casino.
