Pokerstars’ Uruguay Tourney Goes to Brazilian Pro
Marcelo Ramos Da Fonseca takes home the main prize It was a good weekend for a Brazilian pro Marcelo Ramos Da Fonseca, who took down PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour Punta del Este, beating the other hopefuls and claiming the prize of $144,240. The final table at the event comprised his fellow Brazilian and chip leader at the time Francisco Baruffi Neto on 1,346,000, Argentinians Guido Ruffini on 1,259,000 and Ivan Luca with 1,254,000, Da Fonseca, Osvaldo Silvio Resquin, Vladimir Dobrovolskiy, Carlos Leoncio Mironiuk, Pablo Melogno and low chip man, PokerStars pro Angel Guillen. When the action came down to three players, Da Fonseca, Guillen and Neto, they agreed to a three-way chop, which guaranteed each at least $116,240 and left $38,000 on the table for the winner. Not much later, only two players remained in the competition - Da Fonseca and Guillen, who then negotiated another deal, which would see the runner-up get another $10,000 and the winner take home $28,000. In the end, Da Fonseca proved to have the skill and patience to reduce Guillen's stack to nothing, leaving his opponent with his $126,240.
