Intertops Poker Imposes Ban on New US Players
Company spokesmen give no clarification of the recent decision Intertops, the industry pioneer in internet poker operations, issued a sudden and unexplained ban on new players from the United States. "Thank you for your interest in Intertops! Unfortunately, we are unable to accept new customers from your country or region at this time. If you believe you received this message in error please contact our customer support team," this is the message shown to the US gamblers who attempted to sign up. The company spokesmen have confirmed the ban, however there was no further clarification of the recent decision, nor were they willing to go into details of the reasons behind the move. “Intertops reserves the right to refuse new registrations from the United States” – this is one of the provisions contained in the company's T&C. As per the industry experts, the ban could be linked to the Intertop's recent switch to the newly formed Revolution Network, whose foundation followed the takeover of Cake Poker Network by Lock Poker. However, there are no signs that other Revolution operators will take similar steps. It has been speculated that there is a resemblance between this ban and the last year's example of Merge Poker, which had to restrict US sign-ups so as to have enough space to deal with the influx of new US players looking for a home after the Black Friday debacle.
