The first PokerStars All Stars Showdown has finished on a very good note for Dan “w00ki3z.” Cates, who not only claimed the honor of becoming the event's first champion, but also took home a hefty payday of $550 000.
On his way to the big win, Cates had to overcome many obstacles in shape of some of the best online poker players out there, including Ike Haxton, Tobias "KTPOKP" Kuder, Alex "Sussie Smith" Roumeliotis and Phil Galfond.
Finally, he faced Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky in an absolutely thrilling heads-up final, where it took him some eleven hours to eliminate Sulsky and send him home with a well-earned $250 000 runner-up paycheck.
