ISPT Laptop Poker Idea Was Too Ambitious
It was months ago when Laurent Tapie and Prosper Masquelier announced an ambitious concept of gathering 30,000 laptop-toting poker players together in a football stadium to compete in an online tournament, choosing 3,000 survivors for a live tournament in the arena, with a massive guaranteed Euro30 million prize pool as the incentive. Stunning and professional video presentation achieved wide publicity dubbing it the International Stadium Poker Tournament, with a series of massive events at famous stadia around the world, and the first outing scheduled for Wembley in the UK. Since then there has been a clear scaling back of ambitions - the Euro 30 million prize pool was this week reduced to an "estimated Euro 10 million". Also the plan to have 30,000 players participating on their laptops whilst seated in the stands at Wembley changed into more practical online qualifying series and a concept to persuade players from several regions to participate in the Euro300 buy-in event. All players who buy in will compete with thousands of others in order to become one of the estimated 3,000 finalists who will gather physically at Wembley between June 1 and 5 this year to battle it out for the estimated Euro10 million prize pool. But with a Euro3,000 buy-in players can skip the online qualifiers altogether and buy straight into the live session at Wembley. Tapie and Masquelier have lined up the collaboration of a number of operators, and the online section of the project is handled by various sites operating on different geographical locations: Poker770, French Partouche, MyPok, .eu-domained Lock Poker and Spanish Poker770.
