Blom’s Lucky Wave Lets Him Down
Swedish poker pro Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom had a magnificent winning score of over $5 million earned in just two weeks of 2013, but as it appears at this moment, luck has failed him in his latest clashes on the Full Tilt Poker nosebleed PLO tables. This time, on Jan. 14, young Swede went home short of $1.077 million mostly lost to his old foe Phil 'OMGClayAitken' Galfond. While he was successful in the first 200 hands on $200/$400 PLO, Blom soon started one of his familiar rollercoaster ventures, which earned Galfond the title of the biggest winner over the evening with a profit of $1.3 million. Still appraising his opponent, Galfond said that playing against Blom was incredibly difficult: “Some will ask what I think his range is, but to be honest, I'm not entirely sure. Viktor, like me, adjusts his entire strategy when he sees me adjusting to something, so it's really just a guessing game in each moment. “He's capable of being tricky here in terms of mixing in slowplays with his weaker SD value range." The only ray of sunshine for Blom on Sunday were some smaller wins on FLO8 and PLO and a win of over $100,000, mainly from his old customer Ben Sulsky.
