This weekend saw the end of the $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic where British Columbia amateur player Paul Klann (41) dominated the action and became by $1,004,090 wealthier after defeting a host of more experienced players, including the likes of
Phil Laak, triple WPT champ Calros Mortenson, 13 WSOP bracelet holder Phil Hellmuth and WSOP main event winner Joe Hachem.
On his way to the trophy, the Canadian player had to face an international final table, which involved Paul Volpe, Jesse Yaginuma, Daniel Fuhs, David Fong and Toby Lewis.
In the heads up he defeated a constant chip leader Volpe, who was already seen as a victor by many observers. However, after a long and exhausting action, he had to settle for the runner-up prize, worth $651,170.
