UK Poker Honours For Spanish Poker Pro
Young Spanish poker pro is on a roll this year Sergio Aido, 24-year-old Spanish poker pro, this week added to his list of victories the UKIPT Grand Final, boosting his bankroll by GBP144,555. It was a plus to his previous great performances in the European Poker Tour Prague, and a $365,000 win in the World Poker Tour National in Barcelona. At the UKIPT, Aido started the final table as one of the low stacks, surviving players like UK aces Thomas Ward, Patrick Simcoe and Philippe Souki, Belgians Wil Neys and Guy Goossens, an Irish Chris Dowling, and a Spaniard Cesar Garcia. Holding the chip lead, Aido faced Thomas Ward in the heads up, at the start of which the duo agreed on a two-way chop that left GBP 20,000 on the table for the ultimate winner. It was a brief but exciting affair in which Aido victoriously took the main prize, leaving Ward with a second placing worth GBP 116,845. Recently, Aido won a seat in the Champion of Champions event, but he finished ninth on a tough nine-man table populated by talented champs from the UKIPT stops this season, and Richard Evans took the honours on the table, earning himself free entry to all of next season's UKIPT events.
